My Grand Entrance

Location:Stafford House of Yoga

So here we go, first class and I was totally ready to go in the early morning. Class was at 8:30am and was rather interesting. First we meditated, you have to get your breathing and mind right before you can get to moving the body. Then the various body postures including the sun salutations, this was actually the easy stuff.

The room was cool, around sixty five degrees, mind you it was below freezing outside. But as I began to move the flow of blood and the tension of muscles growing, warmed me and I was both feeling that solid burn of a good work out and a really relaxing bath.

The one thing I noticed was that while I was sweating, I was not dripping with it. This to me was a minor miracle. Yep so the ball is now rolling, and I hope to get enough steam to keep it going. I am thinking of tunes to have going while in my practice at home.

So anyone know any good bands to listen to while doing Yoga? I think something Dubstep or electronic might be wise, hell even metal, I am open to almost anything? Since I can't stand most “new age” music.

Share it in the comments.

Gearing Up to Stretch Out

So the time has come, I have now started matters and gotten rolling on the purchases I need to begin my journey in the world of Yoga.

Considering the date and time I was lucky and manged to get through the store pretty quick. I will give a more in depth review of these item I first had to purchase a mat, simple enough right, after some thought and a need to get the old dude card checked.

I got the Gaiam Sublime Yoga Mat, Green in fact. It seems firm enough for my weight and seems to be designed with not slipping in mind. Second I got the mat sling, considering I have to juggle my gear at the moment this seemed to be a good idea.

Again Gaiam to the rescue. Are we sensing a trend here? Its what the shop had so here we go. Next comes the Premium Braided Yoga Strap, it is what it is...and purple. Cause that is how I roll, or flow or go. But yeah there are many straps and this one is mine.

Finally my two Yoga blocks, these devices are probably the weirdest part of the collection. It will probably take some getting used to as part of my routine. Well these are my tools, for building a new and better me.

Still getting used to the blogging thing so the links have to be lined up like so.

First Steps into Yoga, How did this Ball start rolling?

Power in the purpose

Let's be blunt, I am currently stuck in a rut. However I feel that I have found a new way to get my body mind and spirit right. I have tried many a tool and technique. But I think I have found my way into the right path. Yoga, yes you read that right Yoga, because lifting weights and running doesn't challenge my mind, nor nourish my soul.

This blog is the guidebook to my journey into the world of Yoga, with both pitfalls and triumphs. One thing I am going work on is near total honesty, and I will give warnings if my language gets a little, umm salty.

A Little About Me and How I found Yoga

I am currently working in a job that is just one step above intern coffee gathering, Its tedious mind-numbing and stressful in one happy little ball of problems. I am not even going into the joys of my commute home through one of the most mind crushing two hour trips I have ever been through.

One small blessing from these trips to and from the office has been my ability to get some audio book time in while I drive. The one book I have had on almost repeat was Super Rich: A Guide to Having It All by Russell Simmons. Russell talked so eloquently about the power and the purpose of Yoga, that it was hard not to strive to get into the mix.

So here I am on the first step of a thousand miles journey, getting my supplies and looking at the horizon, I am ready...So lets go!
